Duplicate Ticketing on Spirit
I have a round trip reservation through Spirit. The returning flight no longer works for me, let's keep it at that. Considering that there is a fee associated with changing the flight, it makes sense to simply book another one-way flight; it ends up costing less that way, trust me. This new, one-way flight takes place on the same day as the returning segment of the original round trip itinerary, but at an earlier time.
This obviously creates a "duplicate/illogical/unflyable" reservation. I am aware, as I have read many airlines Contracts of Carriages, that this will likely result in the cancellation of the one-way reservation if not both reservations. This cancellation is probably executed by some cross-checking bit of software that runs on the daily. There are plenty of people on the internet who have confirmed that this really does happen automatically and without notice.
However
I read Spirits Contract of Carriage, and I can't find any mention about this practice, nor practices such as exploiting point-beyond fares and throwaway ticketing. I know that Spirit is... different... and this plane ticket I have is non-refundable (therefore, they are getting money for the uncomfortable seat I would be in for 2 hours) so all Spirit has to lose it the potential of charging me to cancel/change my original booking, therefore earning a couple extra bucks.
So, will Spirit cancel my flight(s) due to the conflicting itineraries? Am I overlooking the clause that prohibits this "misconduct"?
