Perhaps you could operate a system similar to Bid Upgrade where pax can choose from Premium Inflatable or Executive Inflatable
That being said, doing this a couple of times might make this problem more noticeable (in addition to making the ride more comfortable). The problem with deflate gate is other pax in J wouldn't notice the glitch, just the affected pax with the sore back! Would be funny if AC has to enforce a policy banning this for "safety" reasons.
