I got the same exact response except that my account was opened a little over a month and I had to call in. The automated system had an option to close the account but that didn't work and I had to talk to a live rep over 6-7 minutes before I told her to just cancel my card. So from now on you need to call to cancel the card. The same happened to my spouse account as well but I have sent a secure message to Citi let's see if that will work.
