I know MSP is getting its own N/S MSP-ICN that begins 2019-April-01, but with B777-200ER's (post refitting.... aka 7HD's). Guess I'm at a loss as to the why as "diversion" word is not stated in flightaware detail. I'm staying away from doing any speculation at this point.
A 'proving' test. January 2018 I flew the 'special sections' LAS-ICN for the CES (great fares) and it did seem that the ground staff at LAS were trying things out with a new, big plane. I don't know how many wide-bodies DL handles at LAS. Of course wide-body handling isn't an issue for MSP.
