It's been a very long time since I've seen an Amex promo with Aeroplan, certainly several years. But as vernonc notes, even at 1:1 it's still pretty decent, esp. for SE.

If you're just looking to book travel otherwise, Amex does have periodic bonus offers with Avios which can be redeemed on BA, AA, IB, etc. J availability can be difficult but it's great value.
