Its a pretty good way to save a few pounds. I hate travelling HBO when travelling overnight due to the liquids rule. I begrudge paying more than half the price of a 250ml deodorant spray for a travel miniature. On day trips of course it’s a no brainier.

As I am group one I normally board first so no real issue to stow my laptop bag. It’s comical sometimes to see whst people bring/attempt to bring into the cabin and on busy (domestic) flights it could cause delays to departure in stowing/putting bags into the hold hence why the check in staff at Heathrow told me this.

There seems to be be a lot of feedback on twitter of people falling foul of Flybe’s cabin bag policy and there are cases being cited with photographs showing in some cases 20 people being charged £50 to gstr check a bag. This seems to fall into 3 categories.

I’ve not been charged for it before why now (100% compliance with regulations)
it fits in the overhead locker so why charge, (it might fit but it’s still over policy size and now yiur being charged)
i wasn’t charged yesterday/the day before/last week so why today when it fits in the sizer. (Seems to be gate agent error).

Seeings these tweets makes me grateful I fly BA and for their flexible hand baggage only fare.
