From what I am aware of they renovated several smaller things since then, just very recently they reopened the rooftop bar (which I did not deem in need of renovation).
Whle I can understand what you mean for some hallways (wouldn't call it run down, but did show some wear), this wasn't the case for our room and floor. While it might not have been brand new, it was definitely in good shape.
For comparison, to assess my perception: I also heard people call the So Sofitel to be worn out, which is very far from how I see it. Of course room lottery might also be at play.
