We're totally fine sharing a king bed with our son, and even fine if they charge extra for the third person.
Anyone have any experience they'd care to share regarding kids staying in your room at the PG?

I suspect they will be fine with you having a 12yr old for no charge, as this hotel is one of the few in Japan that does NOT charge a fee for two people vs one. You may need to pay for lounge access or breakfast though.
