Refund due to death in the family (Question)
Last April I purchased an airfare for $348.91 with $250 in gift cards and the remaining $98.91 on my AMEX. Unfortunately, my mother passed away a week before travel (Jan of 2019) so I couldn't go. I submitted the necessary paperwork (death certificate/obit) through AA's refund page and just received a refund....for $98.91. So, I went ahead and checked the balance of the three gift cards and of course they're all still showing $0.00 remaining.
Am I SOL regarding getting the gift card funds returned? Also, just wondering if I should call the regular CS number or the gift card number with my inquiry?
