I will be flying JFK-MXP (Classic award in F) in March but my final destination is actually near Grenoble. The plan is to spend the day and night in Milan and then leave for the Alps the next day. There is one nonstop flight that morning but it is way too early for me and would have been a separate booking anyway. As such we will be utilizing the train and so I have several questions related to the codeshare agreement with Trenitalia.

I understand that the codeshare agreement only applies to certain stations. Unfortunately the station that is in our direction that would be the furthest we could get on a on the codeshare would be Torino which is only about a third of the way there. Alas, we would have to change trains in Torino anyway and I'm wondering if this would be considered the end of our trip for the purposes of the chauffeur service? And if so does the fact that Torino is not listed as a city for the service mean that we're out of luck, or will we still be able to utilize it in Milan? Also, award space was not available and when it became available I tried desperately to book the award with any combination of adding a train station but was not able to do so. How much of a problem will it be to add this on now or is it something I shouldn't even pursue; instead just buy the train ticket outright? Sorry for the lack of brevity but at the end of the day what I'm wondering is does anyone have any advice on the best utilization of this codeshare option as well as perhaps any component of the chauffeur option to get me as close to Grenoble as possible utilizing the benefits of my airfare?
