I recently learned about a SPG promotion stay 5 or 3 nights and receive a free weekend night. However, this is a targeted promotion that is limited to only a select group of members.
Unlike Hyatt's Faster Free Night Promotiuon that is open to all members (who at least have a MasterCard).
When I wrote to SPG, this is the response I received:
To: Mr. XXXXXXXXXXX
Platinum Preferred Guest Number: XXXXXXXXXX
Dear Mr.XXXXXXXXX,
Thank you for your recent message to Starwood Preferred Guest. I welcome this opportunity to assist you.
The promotion you've referenced is a targeted promotion where select members, determined by our marketing department, are automatically registered. Criteria for these promotions vary and are affected by many factors including: recent stay activity (both location and frequency), membership level within Starwood Preferred Guest, affiliation with other frequent travel programs, and geographic location.
I apologize that your account was not targeted for this promotion. As manual registration is not an option, you will not be able to participate in this promotion.
We appreciate your patronage of Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide. If you have any further customer service questions or concerns, please feel free to contact us at
[email protected] .
Best Regards,

Obviously my business is not valued by Starwood. It's a good thing Hyatt still enjoys my business. Shame on SPG.
