www.channels.nl We get a small but increasing number of first time visitors who are gay and inquire about Gay Hotels in Amsterdam. As a straight guy I tend to wonder why this would be needed. Especially since every where I have stayed in AMS seems to be very gay friendly...in a very big way. In fact several of the "regular" small hotels I have stayed at have been owned or run by male couples.
And from looking at the rates on some of these "gay friendly" hotels I think they tend to be overpriced.
Can anyone shed any light on why you would stay at a gay friendly hotel while in AMS and is it worth it.
We really do try to provide good up to date info for the visitors over there at the Channels.
Thanks

Let me first say that I agree with you that gay hotels are often not worth the trouble.
There are some exceptions such as:
1. Some hotels have special amenities that you are unlikely to find in your average Hilton or Marriott:

2. Some of my friends travel alone and enjoy meeting other gay men when having breakfast or coffee in the hotel restaurant / bar. Many of my friends like the Orfeo Hotel:
