Yes - I understand. It is all part and parcel of BA doing things as cheaply as possible. They would rather replace every year I guess. I have the same issue, a hard sided case which has just been cracked by EK after 4 years, and they have given me some EK branded fabric replacement. We had a bit of a discussion about it and in the end I put it down to one of the hazards of endless travel.

There is no easy win here.....when forced to switch cases at the airport you found it humiliating, now you get to chance cases at home and it is also a problem.

Surely you mean the days when BA didn't offer a discount for travelling without a checked bag? You wouldn't be suggesting some sleight of hand here with prices surely
