Ahhhh, memories...4P was status, I think, I name only. It was indeed a soft landing, but you didn’t get the 25% Premier bonus nor accumulate 500-mile upgrade certs. I do think it allowed you to use 500-mile certs, but of course, after all “real” Premiers and up were upgraded—which, back in the day was attainable for all levels. Checked bags were free then anyway and I think it was before Economy Plus.
I actually was "granted" Premier Emeritus once back in the mid 90's. I know it was meant for people who didn't requalify for Premier status. But I also want to say if you flew 10K EQMs in the first quarter of the new year (or maybe the first four months), you were booted back up to Premier status. At least, that's what happened to me. Also, weren't the upgrade certifcates in "booklets" of 1X1,000 mile plus 2X500 mile, per 10K EQMs flown?
