I've never been denied when asking for breakfast to be served later. I've even woken up less than an hour before landing and was still served a hot breakfast though it might be a tad stressful for the crew if you're a slow eater. On Sleeper Service flights breakfast/supper is a single-tray affair -- nothing that can't be finished in under 15 mins.
