Some slightly bizarre answers (why would a charity be interested in a broken bag?) but the reality is despite the nuisance value, in life sometimes things aren't as we would wish.

So in place of the less practical approaches like taking it to LHR to offload on BA or checking it on a flight to abandon it in some overseas airport I would just leave it out with the household bin or call the council to see if they can collect it.
