We can definitely assume that Row 1 has larger footwells. This has been the norm of the seat design for all other aircraft, and I wouldn’t expect it to be any different. The reason for the small foot wells behind Row 1 is the footwells go under the seat in front. Since Row 1 doesn’t have a row in front of it, they were nice enough to give us the extra foot space.

As far as crew rest, I believe all of the Eights have a crew rest pad. This seems to be the new norm, but maybe someone can confirm this. Also, I just checked the seat map on UA84 for 14-Aug-19 and none of the J seats are blocked.

Now for my question:

We’re (Mrs. and I) are traveling LAX-EWR later this year. We both like windows so we chose 1A & 3A. We normally sit on the Starboard side of the plane but I was concerned with the lav in front of 1L.

Can anyone compare 1A to 1L? Which is worse, the lav or the galley? Can you hear the john every time it’s flushed.

I’m not too turned off by the galley because I probably won’t sleep for more than an hour and a half anyway, so the noise and light won’t bother me too much, but if 1L isn’t a bad seat, we’ll probably move over there.
