I too have to agree with the views aired here. BAs attitude towards economy passengers, that they were not even worth carrying – the idea of business class only flights in Europe comes to mind, stinks. I rarely fly Business, the company that I work for will not pay for it. BAs FF program, at least in the UK, is geared towards premium cost travel, i.e. full fare economy or business, and doesn’t offer upgrades as part of the package. I am glad, if this report is true, that BA are planning to reexamine their strategy.

I do have to disagree about Virgin. True, unlike most US programs, you do have to fly either 6 segments in economy or one in Business before you earn your miles, but, unlike BA, you do earn miles for all flights, even flights booked through Virgin Holidays, or discounted economy. And they do sell both economy and premium economy hard, and even operate planes with no real upper class on 'holiday' routes
