My question is if this is the case and I looked at my recent SPG credit card statement, my 100 points earned on the credit card should be automatically triple to 300 when deposited into my SPG account. Is my thinking make sense or credit card earning did not count?
Please advise, I am quite confused now. Thanks,
Yes. Customer Service gave you the correct information.
Your SPG Starpoint balance was multiplied by 3 as part of the August 18, 2018, combination of the loyalty programs. At that point, they were no longer Starpoints. They became "new" points with the same value as former Marriott Rewards points.
Any points credited to your SPG account since then, whether from hotel stays or credit cards, are "new" points.
