I just combined my Marriott and SPG accounts and thought it was a 1 SPG to 3 Marriotts points transfer. But I was wrong and it was a straight 1:1 transfer. So I called Customer Service and was told the following:

Any point I earned in my SPG account was automatically triple since the August 2018 merger, thus it is correct for the 1:1 transfer. I could not quite remember the sum of my SPG points before the merger and I have no way to look at it since the SPG account did not exist anymore.

My question is if this is the case and I looked at my recent SPG credit card statement, my 100 points earned on the credit card should be automatically triple to 300 when deposited into my SPG account. Is my thinking make sense or credit card earning did not count?

Please advise, I am quite confused now. Thanks,
