It is like a rolling train that cannot be stopped, I am told, despite the fact that Marriott Bonvoy could not see fit to show enough respect to its even most loyal members by telling them about this more than 2, 3, or 5 days ahead of time. I have read so many posts on here about FTers getting frustrated enough with Marriott Bonvoy that they are willing to bolt, and while that sentiment has been there for me, I have been riding this out and staying at MB properties. But honestly, this issue is one that is really putting me over the edge to seriously considering shifting my business to Hilton since I already have status there. It shows a complete lack of respect and lack of care at all for its members. We have given them years and years of business, and a ridiculous amount of revenue (some of us not on the company dime, mind you), and what do we get in return for all of this? Points. So obviously, those points are important to us. MB has asked for our patience through this and we have hung in there with MB throughout the monumental mess it has been. So Marriott rewards us by what? Telling us you have 2 days or 5 days or what have you, otherwise you get no say in the matter of what happens to your accounts. You can't select the account that will be deleted. That is our reward for our decades of business and tens of thousands of dollars in revenue per year???
I am tired of Marriott caring less about its members.
Before getting too upset, from what I've read, the accounts are not going away, but IT will delete the email (i.e. username) from the least used account so that becomes a unique identifier to the accounts. You should still be able to use the actual membership number to specify the other account. And if you have the ability to expand your email username to make separate addresses, then you can re-establish using an email to access both accounts until forced to combine them. There are so many free email services to choose from this should not be an issue. GMail is a good choice given you can use
[email protected] and
[email protected] and have all the messages end up in
[email protected]. Personally, I have my own domain name and use
[email protected] and
[email protected] (and I frequently get emails from Marriott saying I have a bad email address. ??)
I do agree Marriott has gone down the same path as AOL did years ago when members became commodities. We are now being sold to the properties and our revenue sold to the investors. We are all important to the success of the company, but abandoning your loyalty members thinking there are five more customers waiting to take our place leaves a bad taste in member's mouth.
