I'm putting a trip together Perth Australia to Rome and back from CDG. 2 years ago I did the same trip. Got confirmed over and waitlisted back. Never got off the waitlist and had to buy 2 Business class tickets home. I have 150,000 miles sitting in my Asia Miles account. This year I notice that every flight in either "sold out" or waitlist. Probably means the same result as my last trip i.e. I will have to finish up buying tickets. I have booked SIA over (they confirm straight away) and want to use up my Asia Miles points to come home. It seems Asia Miles and MPC are actively discouraging redemptions. My other grumble is that apparently companion tickers are not guaranteed so I could buy a Business class ticket CDG to PER for my wife and apply for a companion award ticket for me but there is no guarantee that I would be on the same aircraft or even the same date. I wish I could recover my points. They came from the Altitude program
