On Friday, July 30th AA#2031 JFK MIA at Terminal 8, our assigned departure gate changed 4 times from 3 to 4, 4 to 6, 6 to 4 , and 4 to 2 from 6pm to 9pm.

Is this some sort of record?

We actually completed the boarding process at gate 6 and was then told the plane was being taken out of service because of a mechanical problem.

As it turned out, the tail of the plane had struck the runway upon landing because of wind shear at JFK and they could not fully inspect the equipment in time for a reasonable departure.
