Several times, I've booked ex-Eurozone flights over the phone so that I could pay in GBP (so that I was not liable for an FX fee). But yesterday evening, I tried to do the same and was told that booking eurozone flights in GBP was not grounds for the £10 charge being waived and that I should have always been charged the £10 previously.
So in the end I booked via ba.com, but I don't know if I was fobbed off OR if I had simply been lucky previously.
Whenever I've booked a ticket of this kind by phone and thereby avoided paying the BA Amex FX fee, I've taken the view that even if I'm charged £10, it's usually still cheaper than paying the FX fee.
