We've always been able to book hotel rooms with kama‘aina rates (Maui Lu for $70 a night last year -- what a mistake, Westin Kā‘anapali Beach for $199 next week), but sadly we, like you, have seen less and less discounts in other travel related places (per poor economy). Now that the economy has gone up however, there are a lot of great deals for hotels in Waikīkī (remember reading an article about this) using a kama‘aina discount.
