The best option at the moment will be an Alpine headunit with AI/NET interface and the soon to be released Alpine KCA420i AI/NET ipod interface unit. The unit will be around $100 and the cheapest AI/NET headunit is around $300. Not cheap, but certainly a VERY nice solution.

The problem with the BMW solution is that it's just a remote control and audio hookup, the Alpine will actually show track and song info and will let you browse the collection on the headunit.
