I spent about 10 months staying weekly in the hotel just after it reopened as the Doubletree and had suite upgrade success about 50% of the time. The suites are really nice - almost like self contained apartments. The problem is that there aren’t many of them so they do sell out. If there is one available and, as a Diamond member, you ask for it, your chances of success are pretty high.
