What do you mean if anybody had any luck with this? Which fare are you talking about...

But there are so many other possibilities as well... it doesn't have to be EK/UA. There are loads of other RTWs to be had.... RTWs have been in existence before any alliances ie Star, Oneworld. Some have the most inappropriate partnerships.. UA was once a partner with BA in a RTW (alas not anymore).

There are many many RTW fares to be had. Some priced less than others when originating from low currency markets ie Egypt. But some are less obvious. You just need to know where to look for them or get the services of a TA who is experienced enough about such fares. It really isn't hard.
