I must be one of those 'other Golds' the OP mentions. My experience was :
No assistance provided on a late arriving domestic flight to make our connection.
BA Customer service desk at T5 security point left un-staffed for over an hour.
Had to go land side and get re-booked.
So much for this:
BRITISH AIRWAYS ENHANCES ITS SERVICE FOR CONNECTING CUSTOMERS
As expected, a complaint about the poor service was met with an apology and the reminder that BA doesn't value my custom.
