What I had done several times previously was call the UK BA booking line, ask them if they could bill me in GBP because their website was only allowing me to be charged in EUR, and I had never been charged a £10 fee - the last time I was explicitly told by the agent that the £10 fee didn't apply because the website wasn't allowing the option of being billed in GBP.
That isn't an error of the BA Website - that is a standard feature that means that it charges based on country of departure
There was no bug causing you to have to pay in EUR when it should allow GBP
You are lucky that previous times allowed a waiver of the fee. The agent is quite correct in charging it this time. Is it better to pay GBP10 or [ay the currency conversion fee?
Perhaps might be woth getting a credit card , such as the Halifax clarity card, which provides for payments without a foreign currency conversion fee
