How did you manage to pay in GBP?
Last time I got told that he couldn't get the fare I wanted using a London POS for an ex-EU - so had to use a German one from which he could only charge me in EUR.
What I had done several times previously was call the UK BA booking line, ask them if they could bill me in GBP because their website was only allowing me to be charged in EUR, and I had never been charged a £10 fee - the last time I was explicitly told by the agent that the £10 fee didn't apply because the website wasn't allowing the option of being billed in GBP.
