You said a lot there. To confirm, you travel dates are AFTER GUC expiration. You were successful to get an agent to confirm an upgrade with travel after expiration. Which method did you use? Twitter? International desk? How do I reach the international ticketing desk. Also, how far out after GUC expiration are your travel dates?

I've done this as well. The travel date isn't important, what's important is that the certificate clears and the ticket is re-issued before the expiration. So if there is confirmable inventory, even if the travel date is after the cert expiration, it will work. Just make sure to ask the agent to go ahead and manually re-issue the ticket.
