My understanding of THC is prepaid rate gets you set of amex travel benefits, but no hotel chain loyalty benefits.

Recently I saw on the amex travel website, there's a "pay at hotel" option. I was wondering if choosing this option will get me both amex benefits as well as hotel elite member benefits? Since the transaction party will likely be the hotel, not amex travel...? Thanks in advance.
