Flying IAH-AKL. How to get into priority security lane without status?
I'm flying Houston to Auckland (economy) next month and am worried about the TSA lines due to the shutdown. I don't have any sort of elite status or pre-check/global membership. I'm trying to figure out how to get into the priority security line at IAH.
I booked with Air NZ and I see that preferred seating can be purchased and that it provides priority boarding. Would that qualify for priority check-in or priority security lane access?
I feel this is a very basic question but I have had a hard time finding for an answer. I didn't even know this was a possibility until yesterday. I happened to have a priority boarding United Airlines ticket (no idea why it was priority as I only purchased economy) and accidentally walked to the priority lane (was looking for the regular one) and was allowed in. So I'm wondering if this is standard for Air NZ as well.
