Really? I find Virtuoso/FHR tracks closely with the rates at Ritz-Carlton hotels. It's just the rack rate and many RCs don't have significantly discounted member or package rates. RC Tokyo is the same price between Virtuoso and Marriott for example. The one-category upgrades are also contractually required if available which means you'll get an upgrade even at hotels that are stingy with upgrades for platinum members (again, RC Tokyo).
