For some reason, it was 7,500 miles cheaper to book an award on HA from JHM-HNL-PHX than originating in OGG. For a family of 4 that saved me 30,000 HA miles. Car rental dropping off at JHM is about $50 more but given the convenience factor from Ka’anapali and my desire to try JHM it seemed like a good option.
Has anyone done this? I’m curious about the connection in HNL. Will I go into the same inter-island terminal as the other HA inter island jets or do the turbo props go to a different place? Will I need to reclear security?
Any information about flying from JHM and connecting in HNL would be much appreciated.
JHM to HNL is operated by Ohana by Hawaiian on ATR42. They usually use gates B1 and B2 in HNL Terminal 1. You will stay inside same security area as Hawaiian jet flights. HNL to PHX usually leaves from Terminal 2 C gates. Terminal 1 and 2 are connected inside security, just have to go through a simple agricultural check. It's about 5 to 10 minutes walk from gate to gate.
