So take into account the ease, cost & time from your accommodation to the airport. Can be as much as the airfare. Lots of information in the UK Ireland forum on that.
With Eu/UK airlines read carefully the t&c's and what is included. In particular checked baggage and the
size/weight of carry-ons. They will not be like USA airlines. With the add-on's you may find the cost getting to be the same as BA.
Read the rules.
For example with Ryan Air you have extra cost for checking in at the airport and much more. I would not consider Ryan Air.
And again read and understand the rules of the ticket
