You just need to have your Skymiles number on the reservation.

I don't know anything about the FB app. But if it is buggy, you can add your SM number by phone, at check-in (agent or maybe a kiosk), or at the gate.

Just make sure your SM number is visible on your hard copy of the ticket before you board and you should be good.
