FWIW, my go to phrase is not to ask to double check the correct inventory, but to actually say (as sweetly as humanly possible) "And just to check, you're looking at Z class on the KLM flight numbers, right? Not for OY?" It's a little aggressive, but the problem is usually that they think they are looking at the correct inventory, so the answer to your question will always be yes.
Yes, definitely a bad agent. I should probably be a bit more direct, but I always feel weird telling someone else how to do their job (especially when I'm not 100% sure they are - after all, in this case inventory could have actually been gone). I mean, I know how I'd feel if someone called me at work and told me I doing something completely wrong. I also know how good DL's CRM systems are...

In any case, I usually try to say something like "I know this one's a bit tricky - the last agent I talked to about this said to make sure we are looking for Z inventory (or whatever)." Or, more preferably, I have a somewhat good spidey sense on whether an agent is really good or not, and if the latter, will look for polite ways to HUCA.

This would all be far easier if DL would just publish their UG inventory and allow us to apply RUC/GUCs online. I can't imagine many of the phone agents enjoy wrestling with all the convoluted rules and manual notation processes and stuff either.
