Yeah, I kind of had the same idea; no rollboard means less incentive to board early, but at the same time we were at one of the D gates that has a bit less room than some of the others and boarding an oversold A320 was a gong show indeed. Especially with 17+ people trying to gate check bags at the same time as they called Z1 boarding.
