Similar experiences - I find most FA's are more than happy to provide a beverage upon request (long-haul I'll just walk back to the galley and ask), the occasional FA will just keep 'em coming, and the occasional FA will try and enforce some puritanical perspective - I've also been cut off after a PDB and 2 wines on a HKG-ORD flight.
