If I'm trying to nap, reading lights bother me as much or more than window lights.
I don't care for eye shades either, but am not above putting a pashmina over my head.
And as far as what the "majority" want, I have never been informed that they are taking a poll of any sort.
No right or wrong?. Fully open / no dim blinds send shafts of bright light into co pax eyes and screens. Wakes me even with eye cover and have to put blanket over head until I then wake with hypercapnea and hypoxia 😄. Pitch black makes working horrible and adjusting to time zones hard. Presumably trick is to find a sweet spot. A bit of dim/not fully up when possible and if an unforgettable scene appears be quick with photo. Many pax pay the extra $ in J to sleep. Y / PY IMO its who owns window given if you can sleep there a bit of light is unlikely to be an issue. SD forcing their preference on all not good.
