I have voluntarily separated from my checked luggage upon arrival into the US on two occasions, both times knowing if I waited for my luggage I would miss my connection. Both times the luggage arrived within 24 hours to my destination. I know one time I had to return to the destination airport to pick it up (they would not deliver it). I don't recall how I got it the other time.
good to know, but i wonder if they might revoke or non-renew one’s global entry status if they realized you intentionally left customs without checked luggage just to make your connection.
after the DL apple story last year that revoked global entry status, i am mindful of the power of an irked customs agent.
