FSS is one of the bright spots that American has really gotten right and if it's within your budget, I would wholeheartedly recommend it given your points, more so for the return via MIA but for both if you're unsure about CLT.

JDiver has reported on his experiences with Lady JDiver in several posts in the past and overall the experiences he reported were overwhelming positive.
I’ve certainly had exemplary service every time, other than the one time when we got a new (transferred from another airport, iirc) Premium Services agent who wasn’t as familiar with the airport as she should / could have been. Still, a very minor bump in the road.
