Hello, I've just received a call from a family member in Germany that my sister has collapsed with a pulmonary embolism and is now in hospital in an induced coma. I want to fly over and be there for my brother-in-law and the two children (the younger one is only 7 weeks) but after just returning from a two week stay in Germany, I'm slightly cash strapped but would have enough avios.How good are BA with allowing flights on Avios on compasionate grounds?
I remember, when my grandmother died, the CS agent on the phone said if I had had enough miles on my account I would have been able to use them even if there was no availability. But that was six years ago, so things will probably have changed.
