Absolutely correct. Those policies also usually say pre-existing diagnosis or one you
ought to have seen a doc about. Another little catch is that if you get sick and use your policy and need to go back to the doctor, you might not be covered. Friend saw a doc while away last winter. Her regular insurance has 15 days of out-of-country coverage. She had repeat visits to doctor and a medication change. Her condition did not require her to return home. Her “top up” policy (for trips that exceed 15 days) labelled it a prre-existing condition. No coverage after the 15 days. This is common to the travel insurance industry.
FYI, a couple of years ago I posted a lot of info about travel insurance. It was moved to another forum but I can’t remember which.
There are some policies,according to my agent, that he refers to as “no questions asked”, and the premium is commensurate with no questions.
