Quicj recap: Took CDG-DFW-LAX...bought cheapoair rt economy ticket for $775 for two. Had to pay 100e for two pieces of luggage (yikes!) and another $50 or so to reserve seats. First time on 787....really nice (sat in AB in the twenties)...big windows, electronic lighting etc...due to fatigue, hangover (last night in Paris!) and flying meds, was able to sleep virtually entire flight which was remarkably smooth. We had 1:50 at DFW to transfer planes...didn't seem we would get through due to all the lines, but we had a good 30 minutes before gate closed. That flight was packed and bumpy! Fortunately, less than three hours.
As for business class seats, just walking through (and talking to a passenger while waiting for the line to move in plane), it would seem that the backward facing window seat and opposing aisle seat would be best for a couple travelling together.
But I'm glad I dropped about $700 to save 220000 miles! Wasn't worth it.
Just take a bunch of Xanax during the flight, and a handful of Vicodin the next day for your back
