Speaking of 35K, I am planning to stay at a Phuket-area hotel for 7 nights using a Cat 5 (new Cat 5) Travel Certificate. I'll be traveling with my 6-year old son. Am I correct to assume that the JW Marriott is the best of the 35K/night hotels in the Phuket area for kids? I'm concerned that the renaissance is too romantic / boring for kids, and that Khao Lak might be too remote / fewer kid-friendly options. For what it's worth, I've been to Phuket before, as well as to Khao Lak, though have never stated at either JW properies. As far as towns/areas,. I much preferred Khao Lak, but feel that there are more options for kids near (or not too far) from JW Phuket. I am also planning to get a rental car.
