GTAA announces YYZ AIF increase
TORONTO, July 30 /CNW/ - Effective November 1, 2004, the Airport
Improvement Fee ("AIF") at Toronto Pearson International Airport will be
increased from $12.00 to $15.00 for departing passengers. The AIF for
connecting passengers will remain the same at $8.00. The increase applies to
tickets sold on or after November 1st and will continue to be collected by the
air carrier on the sale of airline tickets. Fees are in Canadian dollars and
are exclusive of applicable taxes. This increase brings the AIF charged at
Pearson in line with other major airports in Canada. Pearson was the last
major Canadian airport to implement an AIF, which has been in place since June
1, 2001.
The GTAA is the operator of Toronto Pearson International Airport, one of
the largest airports in North America in terms of passenger and air cargo
traffic. In 2003, the airport handled approximately 25 million passengers.
