I have been asked on several America West flights to turn off my Treo 600 even though I have shown them that the Phone was off. I've gotten into short discussions over why the PDA functionality wouldn't interfere with the flight instruments anymore than a laptop. Nobody would listen...
I think that the FAA needs to come out with an approved list of specific electronic devices that can be used.
